Diamond Candle Review and Giveaway

So! I have another giveaway for you lovelies!!
Ever heard of Diamond Candles before? I hadn't until they contacted me a couple weeks ago.
What makes these soy candles unique is a ring on the inside in value of $10, $100, $1000 and even $5000!
I chose Birthday Cake since it's my birthday month and man it smells so good! Good enough to eat!  And I was pleasantly surprised at the size! Burn time is 140 hours!

I did burn it about 2 days before I couldn't stand it any longer and fished out the ring!
Tip:
Did you know candles have a memory? Yep! If you want a candle to burn completely away then it must liquefy to the edges of the container and you must burn it that way every time.  If you don't then it will 'remember' how much you burned it and not go past that edge(and produce a ring).  Hope that makes sense!

And here's my ring!

Yay for pink!! It is a little brighter pink in person. Love it!
You can visit their Facebook Page to see more rings!

One more thing I like about these candles is that they are made in the USA!
Durham, North Carolina to be exact!

And now, how about one for one of you!! Enter below!

Happy Thursday!

*I was given a candle to review. All opinions are 100% mine.

Laundry Room Tips For A Brilliant HE Clean & A Giveaway!

I'm excited, as always, to offer you lovelies a giveaway today!
But before we get to that let's talk about something we all dread but have to do on a regular basis....the laundry. Did you know that the average family does about 400 loads of laundry a year? Well we know who does the majority of that! If you're like me and have a hubby who wears uniforms to work then your above average more than likely!  And let me just tell you....he gets dirty! So dirty that we have tried all kinds of laundry soap and what we've found to be tried and true is Tide. With color safe bleach! He gets that dirty!
Well Tide has teamed up with Maytag, Home Depot and Jenny from The Little Green Notebook to offer laundry room tips to make doing the laundry a little more of a happy job!

Here's my laundry room view.....

I realize this isn't a normal view! And it's also my craft room! Which I did decorate it as such but having a cute room to do laundry in truly makes a difference! And that's my first tip:  just because it's the laundry room doesn't mean it shouldn't be decorated. If you have to do the work then you might as well have an enjoyable work space!

And my second tip is a cost effective storage solution. The space to the left of the washer was just right for a Closetmaid Pantry cabinet and was about $65 at Target. Much less than cabinets that I wouldn't be able to reach (I'm a shorty!).

Jenny from The Little Green Notebook has more tips too!
Jenny’s tips for overhauling and organizing your laundry room:
Tip #1:
Dealing with a dark, cave-like laundry room is a chore in and of itself! By taking off the doors on a few of your upper cabinets, you'll open up the space and create a place to store baskets. In this laundry room, we assigned baskets for every member of the house, which makes sorting a breeze!

Tip #2:
Why not decoupage or paint insides of cabinets for a fun pop of color? It's a guaranteed smile each and every time you reach for your detergent.

Tip #3:
Don't like the cabinets, floors and countertops in your laundry room? Every surface can be painted or resurfaced! For less than $30 in materials, the outdated linoleum, brick pavers and old, dark cabinets were updated in this laundry room with paint and with a concrete overlay product.

Tip #4
A rolling laundry butler can be your best friend, doing triple duty with a hanging bar, a rolling basket and a drying rack. It's the perfect choice for a laundry room with limited space that hasn't been updated in a few decades.

Tip #5:
Don't neglect your laundry room walls! Hanging interesting art and mirrors will elevate your room and make it feel less utilitarian and more “homey”. Suddenly those 400 loads of laundry most of us will do this year might actually be enjoyable!

Tip #6:
Use a slab of stone or a simple piece of painted MDF on top of the washer/dryer units to create a folding station and to prevent socks from slipping in between the appliances.

Check out Jenny's laundry makeover HERE!

Now to the good part....the giveaway!
Win a $50 Home Depot gift card and a Tide sample here at Vintage Gwen.
Then head over to the Brilliant HE Clean site and enter to win the Sweepstakes Prize! One person will be chosen at random to win the following: an e-design consultation by Jenny, a Maytag Washer and Dryer, a year’s supply of Tide and $5,000! Ten runners up will receive a year’s supply of Tide.

DIY Stained Crates, A Makeover, & A Giveaway!

I'm excited to team up with Proctor & Gamble and Home Depot to bring you a simple home staining/painting project and a much needed linen closet makeover! They sent me a #ReadyDoneClean pack that helped me to "Get it ready, get it done, and get it clean".
So, I'm keeping it real today since you'll get to see how badly the makeover was needed!
But before I get to the good stuff I had to come up with some storage containers for the bottom of the closet. I'm loving the crate trend right now.  So I did some measuring and then went shopping. Turned out that if I got 2 then they would not be able to sit the same way. So I reasoned it out and decided that I'd be sorry if I didn't buy 2! Then I did a little research on Pinterest and found how I wanted to stain the crates.

I had just given the house a good cleaning for the personal shower I hosted so my craft room is clean. (Yay!) But an excellent tip is to use a Swiffer Sweeper to free your space up from any dust. I gave the crates a light sanding outside and then got to work using Minwax's Express Color Wiping Stain & Finish in Pecan. This was my first time using a stain and I loved it! I almost used it all, there's probably enough left for a small project. I then got out a stencil and some paint to add a pretty touch to my crates. I grabbed a Mr.Clean Magic Eraser and had to clean my stencil from the last time I used it.  Ahem....lesson learned to always clean a stencil after using. But the Magic Eraser worked like a charm!  Now I was ready to tackle freshening up the linen closet. Here's the before....

Ugh! See? Keeping. It. Real!
Ok so obviously there's wasted space at the bottom and I was in desperate need of more nail polish storage space!( Lil' Hunkie has gotten into my nail polish and painted on himself and the cabinet so 'higher ground' was a must!)  Also, the red cube is what I used at our previous home for medicine storage and so with adding the crates I wanted a more uniform look.  Here's the after...

Ahhh! Makes me smile! I even got a 'good job' from my husband!

Before adding the crates in I grabbed the Swiffer Sweeper and ran it along the ceiling, walls and top of the door to get any cobwebs or dust. Then I Swiffered the floor and grabbed another Magic Eraser and cleaned the base boards and even cleaned up some scuff marks that I was surprised to see!

And then the linen closet makeover was on and didn't take long at all! The two baskets and tray I had already and weren't really in use.  I also put into use a sheets organizing trick I saw on Pinterest....store folded sheets in one of the pillowcases!

So whether you have a big or small project coming up, you can find all of your painting/staining supplies, including the Swiffer Sweeper and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, at The Home Depot near you.
Be sure to visit HomeDepot.com for more painting and DIY tips!

And to help you get started I've got a #ReadyDoneClean Prize Pack to give away!

Included is:
Swiffer Sweeper
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
$25 Home Depot Gift Card

Giveaway will end March 28th at midnight CST and winner will be announced Friday the 29th.

{Giveaway is for US Residents only and must be 18 or older to enter.}

Happy Entering!!
