The Vintage Gwen Craft Room

Ok so that title might be a little too formal. But it has a nice ring to it!
You have no idea how good it feels to be done!  Well you probably do!  I still need one thing to go over the outside door but I did a pretty good illustration of it and didn't think it was worth holding up the reveal!
Now then.  Not only is this room my craft room but it is also the laundry room and a sun room.
1.  I thought about doing the decor laundry themed but threw that out the window!
2.  I had to take the photos in the afternoon sun so don't shoot me for the sunniness!
{I love taking pictures but am so not an expert!}
Here we go!!
The first four photos are from all four corners of the room....

Some details...
Of course there had to be pink!  And I really like the combo of navy and pink!  This room acted as an overflow room when we moved and boy has it come a long way!  And I can't take full credit....I had one of my best friends come and help me with trying to figure out this room and the den.  {Thanks my friend!}
What's New
The benches, the bookcase {the cheapest one they have} and the pantry cabinet all came from Target. As well as the cubes.  I'm proud to say that I put together all the benches and bookcase and would have done the pantry but called on dear ole' dad because of it having hinges.  The pantry cabinet is our household miscellaneous 'closet'.  It holds the laundry supplies, tools, batteries, tape, etc.  The rest is all crafting storage! And I can tell you the bucket of fabric is just the tip of the iceberg! I still have a tote full at my parents!
The awesome rug is from Urban Outfitters and the fabulous Bethany of Pitter And Glink has one in her craft room and was a-ok with me being a copy cat! It was the most affordable option I could find!
I made all the throw pillows {the benches came with the cushions}and the bucket and flowers on top of the pantry cabinet are both new.  The bucket is a painters bucket I got at Atwoods for about $6 and I got the flowers at Dollar General and Dollar Tree.  Since I had to spend money on the storage pieces I tried to keep the decor cost down.  The table is a Craigslist find of $25 and the chair was $10 found at a local antique store.  And beside purchasing a wooden 'inspire' word for above the back door the rest is pretty much things I had already!
You get the idea!

Ok back to more pictures!

The two blue baskets, two pink plastic squares and the two floral buckets were new too, from the Dollar Spot at Target, bought over time.

Canvas Redo, easy tutorial coming!

Ribbon organization inspired by Pinterest! I have more ribbon floating around too!  But look at all the odd pieces I had that I put on clothespins!

I posted a photo of the dryer vent on Facebook asking for suggestions on how to decorate around it and got some great ones! There was tape with red print holding it together that was really messing me up! Just decided to go with a sheet of duck tape...yes they make sheets!  Cut it in 3 pieces and used 2 and done.

Remember my inspired mini dessert stand? And that clock was a gift from long ago that I pulled from the bookcase in the den!  Love this grouping!!

Tutorial for my doily art coming! And I had the frames, I simply painted the backing board and then stenciled on the frames.  And painted them navy!

That plate is over a year old! It was in my craft stash!  I painted the frame and added the awesome printable from Landee See, Landee Do.

While I had the paint out I decided to paint the middle section of doilies I already had for a bunting.  I thought about doing a longer one to hang above the windows....still might....
{The '1' I bought for Lil' Hunkie's 1st birthday that I didn't use.}

And here is the only thing that is laundry related! The jar is an old candle jar, I glued the wooden final on and spray painted the lid.  The wooden block is from Pick Your Plum.  I bought it not knowing what I'd do with it and then thought of this! Tutorial coming soon!
{Placemat is from Target years ago!}

The blue and pink pillows are made out of $1/yard fabric from Walmart.  I just folded and cut and folded and cut to get 4 pillows out of each yard.  The tan pillows are made out of 2 fat quarters, floral on one side and stripe on the other.  I will have to replace these eventually as some fading from just the fabric laying on the table has occurred! {We do plan on tinting the windows next tax season!}

My 'do something with' stash basket!  That's my square burlap wreath that needs mending!

Bucket O' Fabric!

And. That's. It.
I love it.  I'm thankful it's done!  And it was so enjoyable using it to craft some things finally!
Thanks for being patient with me!  I'm having a Stella & Dot party on Saturday and plan on taking pics of the house so a home tour should be next week!
Yay!!

Sharing at the awesome parties on my Link Parties Page!

Happy Thursday!

  11. What a lovely space! And that view!!! Oh, my, Jennifer! I want a view like that while I work! :) At one point, while we were in the house-planning stage, I was working on a house plan with one large laundry, craft, utility, workroom space. We didn't get to do that in this house but I think this type of room has a LOT of benefits. Thanks for sharing your adorable work space with us!

  13. This is a great space! Having windows will be great for matching things (light) and general feeling good. :) Be careful storing your fabric out in the open though - the sun will fade what it touches (learned this the hard way - faded fabric on the folded edge). Also, the dryer vent is super fun! You could get magnetic containers to hold buttons or whatever. :-)
    Great job and ENJOY!!!!
