Vintage Gwen Chapel-Fighting the What-Ifs

The past two weeks have been challenging for us in the way of parenting.
I didn't think that at 2 years old that all the 'accidents' a kid can have would start.  But they did.
We spent Memorial Day swimming, Lil' Hunkie slid right off the pool deck into the water.  And was under for what seemed an eternity. {It was more like 2-3 seconds.} Within 5 minutes he wanted right back in.
Then, this last week he got stung by 2 wasps, once on his finger, once on his knee.  Got a dose of Benadryl in him...no hives, no trouble breathing. All good the next day.
Lastly, he took a tumble down the 3 step stage at church.
What if, what if, what if.
What if someone hadn't gotten to him in time when he slid into the pool....
What if he was severely allergic to wasps and we didn't get the Benadryl in him in time....
What if him falling on his head turned out to be a bad thing....
Ugh.  Life.  These things are just the stuff of life.
Thank goodness I have God to get me through the what ifs!  And you do too!
We are to trust Him with our children.  After all they are blessing from Him.

"Once I was young, and now I am old.  Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread."  Psalm 37:25 NLT

"And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus."  Philippians 4:19 NLT

Not gonna lie, I didn't handle any of those situations very well.  The pool thing scared me and I wanted to cry too but kept my composure to get Lil' Hunkie calmed down.  The wasp thing scared me too because he cried a different cry...a painful one.  The stage thing aggravated me because I told him to stop what he was doing, which was playing near the edge, or he would get hurt.  Didn't listen to me at all and down he went.  So now I've failed 3 times as a parent? Matter of opinion I suppose. Regardless, God's got my failures covered too.  Whew!! Thank goodness.

"Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh every morning."
Lamentations 3:23 NLT

Be blessed.
