Chic Couture-Holiday Nails

The Holidays are the perfect time to have fun with your manicure!
Here's my recent Holiday Nails!

 I used a stamp that reminded me of poinsettias on my ring finger.
And then I did put some clear glitter polish over it for a little sparkle.

My half moon skills are not perfect but I wanted the classic red and green in a different way.  I have Essie's  Penny Talk on my ring finger and then a fun glitter polish over that from Nailtini.

If I have time before Christmas then I really am wanting to do a pink look with snowflakes and the hot pink glitter polish from this....
Found it on sale at Walgreen's this week! I can't wait to use them!!

Happy Holiday Nails to you!!

Christmas TShirt Pillow

I've been meaning to make this pillow for a long time! I mean like over 5 years long time!  I saved the cutest Christmas t-shirt from Old Navy years ago when unfortunately it got too small with intentions of making it a pillow. And I don't know why it took me so long to do it when it only took about 15 minutes to make!

I cheated and used a piece of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper as a 'pattern', cutting about 1/2 inch extra on all sides for a seam allowance. Sewed and stuffed and done!
Now I kinda want to go thrifting for Christmas t-shirts!!

Happy Thursday!!

Vintage Gwen Chapel-Don't Worry, There's Still A God

Well this past week is definitely one for the record book.
It started out with my sister in law having to have her baby early.  Which resulted in a miracle that weighed 3 pounds, 2 ounces and about 15 inches long! Then the week ended with the tragedy  in Newton. And now I've started the weekend on another high note getting to be a guest at really a perfect wedding of true loves.
God is so amazing.  Everyday He is.
 Witnessing my nephew's birth and him having to go through normal preemie testing and have everything be normal is truly a miracle.  I was {and still am} in a state of extreme belief in God.  Not that I have ever doubted Him before but I just had this sense of  "I will not be convinced otherwise!" I refuse it!
Boom!
Then a senseless act. Unfairness.
And many asking is there a God?  Funny to me that people always ask that in times of tragedy.  Of course there is a God!  He's the same one in all our good times!
He never said life would be a bed of roses everyday. He did say He would be with us through it all, no matter what.
After Friday morning there were 2 things I couldn't stop thinking about a midst the sad heart I had.
1. Good people will never fully understand evil. And evil people will never understand good.
That doesn't mean there's not hope for evil people, because there is. He's called Jesus.
And 2. The shooter was a lost life too. What about his family? I'm not in any way approving of what he did.  But it is God's will for no one to perish.
"The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness.  Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
2 Peter 3:9 NIV

At times like these is when we should rely on the Word more than ever.  This morning I sat and looked up scriptures with the word 'mourn' and 'comfort' in them. And here's my bookmarks.

Matthew 5:4 NIV
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."

Psalm 23:4 NIV
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

Psalm 119:50 AMP
"This is my comfort and consolation in my affliction; that Your word has revived me and given me life."

Keeping these close to my heart through the coming days.
Hope you find comfort in them as well.

Soiree Day-The Gift Wrapping Party

Over the weekend I attended the 1st Christmas party of the season.  On Friday I wrapped the two gifts that I would need on Saturday and put them under the tree while Lil' Hunkie was napping. Well when he woke up and saw those gifts he wanted to open them....he cried and cried and cried to open them! So guess what I'll be doing Christmas Eve? Having a party! A gift wrapping party! Ha! Well not like the fun parties I found to share since I'll be the hostess and only guest. But wouldn't it be fun to have a gift wrapping party? I sure think so!

{Please click on title to see entire party and to pin from the original source!}

They all look fun to me!!

Happy Soiree Day!

Vintage Gwen Chapel-Keeping Jesus in the Hustle & Bustle

It's not hard to get caught up in the 'hustle and bustle' the Christmas season can bring.  Just today I had 3 activities...Christmas parade, 1st Christmas party, and Christmas choir practice. But I made special memories with Lil' Hunkie, enjoyed lunch with fellow Christian sisters and revealed my secret sister I had for the year {yay!} and prepared for hoping to provide a lovely sound for our church and hopefully visitors. It's all about our perspective. And finding or sharing that gleaming light of Christ as we go through our traditions.
About a week ago I was folding laundry.  Lil' Hunkie had pulled out an Easter towel to play with and I put it in the wash and was folding it to put away. And this was our conversation:
Him:  "Is that your Easter towel?"
Me:  "yes."
Him:  "We need to get some Easter eggs!"
Me: "We will when it's time for Easter.  Right now it's Christmas time.  Do you know what Christmas is about?"
{Remember he's 3!}
Him:  "Snowmen!"
Me: {after chuckling} "Yes, snowmen. But Christmas is really about baby Jesus coming."
Him:  "And baby Jesus is gonna come to my house."
Me: "Well actually baby Jesus lives our hearts.  He lives in momma and dada's hearts...."
Him: "Uh-huh! And He lives in my heart too!"
{touching his chest.}

What an awesome moment for us!  I just taught my son the simple, true meaning of Christmas. I think if we look for opportunities to create moments like these during the 'hustle and bustle' then it will make it all worth it!

As you go through this Christmas season do me a favor.  Pat your chest and remind yourself Jesus lives there.  And then let His wondrous light shine through you, among the hustle and bustle.

Have a great weekend!

{DIY} Swap Christmas Ornaments

As you know, I joined forces with 2 other awesome bloggers for my first swap. Partners should be getting ornaments this week! Wanted to share the ones I made, they are all really simple so I don't have any step by step pictures.  My partner likes making tags so I used that as inspiration!

I left these tags natural and added the white scrapbook tags. I then glued on 'scatter' or confetti, if you will...the tree and poinsettia.  Then glued that to the kraft tag.  Finally I took a unfolded paper clip and dipped it into Mod Podge to fill in the holes and sprinkled red glitter on. And done!  These most certainly can be used as gift tags, which ever the receivers (my hosts ☺) like!

For this tag I Mod Podged on Christmas scrapbook paper. Glued on the tree and "Merry Christmas" on one side and the other made a jeweled 'wreath'.

This is a chip board letter! Again Mod Podged paper and then red glitter on the edges.  Made a Christmas Eve tag and tied it to the loop, which I used a thumb tack to attach to the back of the letter.

This cut out is from Pick Your Plum! It came with some Valentine words I ordered earlier this year. Again Mod Podged paper and glitter on and then glued down some green flowers, also from Pick Your Plum.  I really like how it turned out! Actually how they all turned out!

Easy and fun to make!!
Can't wait to see how the swaps go!!

Happy Thursday!

{See my Link Parties Page for where I'll share!}
